The UK's transition to Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) has reached an important milestone: a settlement solution aligned to the 30-minute mandate has now successfully been deployed. Under MHHS, electricity suppliers will settle energy usage using actual consumption data in 30-minute intervals rather than relying on estimates, helping create a more accurate, flexible and efficient electricity market. The reform is intended to support greater renewable energy integration, encourage demand flexibility and help deliver a smarter energy system. 

Itron helped customers gain early access to the new market arrangements through its involvement in the Systems Integration Testing (SIT) programme, the industry-wide testing phase used to validate that market participants and systems could operate successfully under the new MHHS framework. As the provider of the platform underpinning the Advanced Data Service (ADS) role, which manages and exchanges advanced meter data for settlement purposes, Itron is enabling the efficient management and exchange of settlement data, supporting faster settlement and a more connected, competitive energy market.
